Adopting a dog from Westie Rescue is a thorough but worthwhile process that ensures a good, lasting match between pet and owner. We focus on the ability to provide a safe, stable, and loving home, as well as match the dog to the personality and needs of the new family.
The first step is to fill out an application, which can be done online with the link on this page. It can take about a half hour to gather the information and write about your living situation, experience with dogs (especially Westies), and the names of your vet and references. Give yourself the time to make the answers clear. A volunteer will get back to you for an interview.
A donation is requested for adoptions to help cover medical and transportation costs of the many dogs that we serve.
Westie Rescue of Western Pennsylvania follows an extremely strict protocol when placing a Westie in need of a new home:
- An APPROVED application MUST be on file before adoption. Complete the application below, if you have not already done so.
- Please understand that completing an application does NOT guarantee adoption. A very thorough decision-making process is utilized, keeping the dog's individual needs as the main contributing factor for who is chosen as the adopter.
- An adoption fee is required which will allow the Westie Rescue of Western PA to continue to help other Westies in need.
- Due to the high number of applications received, further communication will only be with the potential adopter. We are a very small organization made up of ONLY volunteers, therefore responding to each and every interested party will be attempted but not guaranteed.
